Being A Christian?

Many people have preconceived ideas as to what God is like and what it means to be a Christian based largely upon what is portrayed in the media which unfortunately as with much of the media is often pretty negative, or worse still their negative experience of some hyper religious anxiety driver street preacher.

Jesus is not RELIGIOUS

This might be a funny statement to read, but actually Jesus isn’t and wasn’t overly religious.

THE Doorway is Open

Your don not need to earn it. You will never deserve it. You can not do it yourself.

The doorway, the pathway the access route to God is open to ALL. It’s easy to look at a priest or a vicar or some other kind of religious figure and think that they are the ones with access to God. If I want to access God I have to be like them.

Not True!

There is this amazing bit of text in the Bible that explains what Jesus was doing here amongst the people. What was his mission or purpose if you like. It’s found in a part of the Bible called 2 Corinthians 5:19. Read it…

“God was in Jesus, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s wrong doings against them. And he gave us (The followers of Jesus) this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Jesus’ ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Jesus when we plead, “Come back to God! Because the gateway is open and all are welcome”

you must be reborn

That sound ridiculous, but what it means is that there is a spiritual reality you need to come alive to.

God-like-ness but no power?

This is not a self help movement. Not another option in the world of self development. This is a real, living relationship with the one and only real God. That’s pretty unique!

We have to slow down!

Jesus is the model that we follow as Christians (Followers of Jesus). Modern day life is hectic and frenetic for many of us. We need to look to the example that Jesus sets out; He regularly withdrew to “be with the Father”.
